Which Curriculum to Choose

When you are just starting out it may be overwhelming trying to choose "the perfect" curriculum. There are many factors to consider as you research your curriculum options. You must first look at the child's age, learning style, and abilities as well as your budget. Once you know your budget and the student's learning style and abilities you can narrow your research down to a curriculum that meets those parameters.

For a student who works well independently and prefers workbooks with a Godly message, I suggest the ACE Pace program. The Pace program has workbooks and answer keys for the core subjects and a wide variety of add-ons you can choose from. Each subject comes with a year's worth of workbooks.  I used this when I started out homeschooling my oldest and middle children. My oldest excelled with this program and went back to public school at a level higher than her peers. My middle daughter struggled with this program so We began looking around for another curriculum.

For my middle and youngest children, we settled on an online curriculum called DiscoveryK12. It has a free and a paid program. It provides online classes for the core subjects, a reading and gym log, as well as art projects. To add to this, my children attend a weekly art class at a local church and a homeschool group that meets once a month. We have used this program for two years now and my children are doing very well with it.
